The Club 200 has been a success raising $2,000 annually but we have been selling the Club 200 for 10+ years and think it is time for a change. The Club 200 tickets are becoming more difficult to sell, it is a tall ask for a $20 ticket after having paid our dues and other related curling costs. Also in recent years we have to rely on sales outside the club membership.

Beginning November 19 there will be a weekly 50/ 50 draw.

All members names are entered in the draw with the winner sharing the weekly receipts. To be participate members (only) would purchase a $2.00 ticket and if a non-participating member name is drawn then the receipts would be rolled into the next week's draw.
Assuming over the curling season there is 20 weekly draws and say we get 50% participation it is estimated the net to the club would be in the range of $2,500. By comparison the Club 200 nets $2,000 each year. All members are eligible including social and learn to curl participants, etc.

The Process

A member drops $2.00 in the 50/50 jar and signs the 50/50 book , on Monday mornings the draw takes place a winner’s name is posted and the winnings available at the bar on Monday evening. (Simple!)

If the winner is not a player that week, the pool is increased by the amount of the pool, if there is a successive number of weeks we could see fairly sizeable pools.

Over the curling season there will be 20 draws, therefore if wanted, a member can prepay $40.00 and thereby insure participation in all the draws.

This week I was the recipient of a donation of $500 from Glooscap Curling Club to Kings Special Olympics! This was indeed a most welcome surprise! Our SO curling membership has increased this year by 50%, therefore more curling equipment will be required; also, our curling sweaters that we use for Provincials and bonspiels are 15 years old, faded and sadly out of style and we are looking at purchasing new curling sweaters or jackets. Your extremely generous donation will certainly be well used.NSSO

The bond between Glooscap and Kings SO has strengthened over the years to the point where some of our members are curling in day and evening Club leagues. This could not take place without the social, emotional and financial support of all Glooscap members. We hope to make you as proud of Special Olympics as you have made us feel welcome.

Sincerely,

Don Sanford
